The integration of Aerial Drone Photography and Infrared Thermography has opened up avenues to gain valuable insights into the thermal and structural aspects of our infrastructure.
Since the end of the summer of 2023, members of the public are now able to submit applications to take-off and/or land unmanned aircraft, including drones, within NYC.
There is major potential for identifying hidden defects and getting to the origin of moisture issues within your building whether it is from direct water infiltration, MEP/utility breakdowns or condensation. These issues will inevitably lead to structural and material defects. Thermal imaging can identify areas of thermal bridging, air fenestration and leakage, and other critical breakdowns of the building envelope.
In order to make proper use of this technology, it is important to have an understanding of the many factors which can affect a mission that can include the accessibility of the suspect condition on a building roof/facade, internal and atmospheric temperature, the effect of solar load, time of day of the inspection, emissivity, and weather history.
We are structural engineers registered with the FAA as sUAS drone pilots and certified with ASNT NDT-Aerial sUAS Infrared/Thermal Testing.
